Master the Art: Seal and Finish Your Diamond Project Like a Pro

Hey there fellow diamond painting enthusiasts! Are you ready to take your diamond painting game to the next level? Then it's time to talk about sealing and finishing your diamond painting.

Sealing and finishing your diamond painting is like giving your masterpiece a suit of armor. It protects your hard work from damage and ensures that it looks stunning for years to come. So, let's dive into the world of sealers and find out how to finish your diamond painting like a pro.

What is Sealing and Finishing?

Sealing and finishing is the final step in the diamond painting process. It involves applying a coating to the surface of your painting to protect the diamonds from getting damaged or accidently falling off. Think of it like adding a layer of sunscreen to your skin - it keeps your skin looking youthful and fresh, and it protects you from harmful UV rays.

Why Liquid Sealers Are the Best

When it comes to choosing a sealer, there are a lot of options out there, but we recommend going with a liquid sealer. Why? Well, for starters, they provide a strong seal that's really durable. Liquid sealers can be a bit tricky to apply evenly, but they're worth the effort.

Step-by-Step Guide to Sealing and Finishing

Ready to get started?

Here's our step-by-step guide to sealing and finishing your diamond painting:

Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace

Before you begin, make sure your workspace is clean and free of any debris. You'll want to have plenty of space to work, and a flat surface to lay your painting or craft item on.

Step 2: Choose Your Sealer

There are lots of different types of liquid sealers out there, so take the time to read reviews and choose one that's right for you. We recommend either a mod podge super gloss or a minwax polycyclic clear gloss.  Never use matte finish as it will dull the sparkle.

Step 3: Apply the Sealer

Now comes the fun part - applying the sealer! Dip your brush or sponge into the sealer and apply it evenly to the surface of your painting. Be careful not to apply too much - a little goes a long way.

Step 4: Allow to Dry

Once you've applied the sealer, let it dry completely. This can take 30 minutes or up to an hour, depending on the type of sealer you're using and the humidity in your workspace. Pro tip: use a fan to help speed up the drying process.

Step 5: Trim and Frame

Once your painting is dry, it's time to trim any excess canvas from around the edges and frame your masterpiece. This is where your diamond painting really comes to life! Choose a frame that complements your painting and makes it stand out.  Use could also use washi tape to add a decorative border too
